I usually find a tree to draw on paper while walking on the street
or surfing on the internet.
The sketch is the starting point for another drawing I am making
this time with porcelain slip which I pour like paint, as if painting.
During the process of drying, the porcelain tree breaks naturally
in many different pieces. More breaks happen on the move to the
kiln, and during the firing. And yet more breakings
will happen with the passing of time.
This dialogue with time continues with drawings on the surface of the fired porcelain tree; with line after line, I fill up the shape of the tree, slowly recording the time passing by, with a drawing that reminds of tree rings that have shifted from their natural position to a more confusing order.
After the tree's birth, pieces start breaking and missing like
a natural process of growing and developing.
Each tree is named with its date of birth.
